AIxImpact Community Gathering: Connecting on the Human Side of AI Work

Connect with fellow AIxImpact members, share what you’re working on, and talk honestly about the human side of AI work

  • Who: Open to both members and non-members

Overview

  • Pause and connect: It’s been a big year for AI in the nonprofit world, with most of us heads-down with clients and deep in the weeds of policies, tools, and training. For our December event, we want to pause and simply be together.

  • Community-driven: Join AIxImpact for a relaxed, conversation-driven hour, whether you’ve been on the listserv from the start or are brand new and haven't said hello yet.

  • Human-centered discussions: Spend the hour in small groups getting to know peers, hearing about current projects, and discussing the human realities of AI adoption.

What to Expect

  • Group welcome: A short kick-off with everyone together.

  • Facilitated breakouts: Small breakout rooms—facilitated by Hugo Castro, Gayle Roberts, Cassie Gruenstein, and Sarah Noyes—to introduce yourself and share what you’re working on right now.

  • Open reflection: Honest conversation on the people side of AI work: where it has helped, where it has been harder than expected, and what you want to carry into the new year.

  • Group debrief: Circling back together to share key themes from the rooms.

  • Safe space: Breakout rooms will not be recorded, so you can speak freely.

This Is for You If

  • You are a consultant, practitioner, or nonprofit leader looking to connect with peers and reflect on the year.

  • You want a candid conversation rather than a technical problem-solving session. No technical background is required, nobody needs to have it all figured out, and everyone is welcome to come as they are.

Announcing something New: The AIxImpact Book Club

  • What it is: Launching in January 2027 as a new membership benefit featuring curated books about AI and monthly discussions on what they mean for our work.

  • Host: Led by AIxImpact member Remy Reya.

  • Preview: Hear more about the club, bring your ideas and opinions, and ask questions during this December gathering.
